Since joining VTTI in 2019, Ellen Barnes has worked on projects that use SHRP 2 data to assess precipitating events leading to crash events and near misses and developed spreadsheets comparing NCAP [New Car Assessment Program] protocols for advanced driver assistance system technology for various regions around the world.
Prior to working at VTTI, Ellen spent 33 years at Ford as an internal consultant helping other engineers apply statistics to their engineering issues. She set up multifactor experimental designs and developed predictor models to estimate the probability of Ford receiving overall 5-star NCAP ratings for various regions around the world. With an educational background in both engineering and applied statistics, Ellen’s areas of expertise include engineering problem solving, setting up test plans, and analyzing and interpreting data.
