Kaye Sullivan joined the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute in 2018 as a Senior Research Associate, providing analysis of NHTSA’s national traffic crash data for a variety of research projects. Prior to joining VTTI, Ms. Sullivan worked at Ford Motor Company for thirty years, including eight years in analytics. For over twenty years, she conducted and managed traffic crash research in the Automotive Safety Office. In that capacity, she worked with engineers in Research and Product Development, SAE, ISO, industry working groups, universities, and government agencies on crashworthiness and crash avoidance research. Ms. Sullivan has co-authored technical publications on a variety of traffic safety topics that include the development of theoretical injury risk curves. Her current research focus at VTTI is the analysis of U.S. national crash accidents, often in conjunction with naturalistic driving data, to support engineering development and policy decisions for advanced driving technologies. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Applied Statistics from Oakland University.
