Brittany Cowan is a Research Associate in the Division of Freight, Transit, and Heavy Vehicle Safety (DHVY). She holds a Master’s degree in Human Computer Interaction from Iowa State University and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University. Prior to joining VTTI, Ms. Cowan worked in industry as a Human Factors Researcher dedicated to AR/VR user studies. Her current research primarily focuses on automated driving systems and their impacts on safety, awareness, distraction, and fatigue. Ms. Cowan’s training in user experience (UX) design and education in psychology and human computer interaction allow her to approach projects with a focus on the user. Ms. Cowan’s primary goal is to improve current driving technologies resulting in real world impacts on motor vehicle safety.
