Vehicle Pavement Interaction

Dr. Edgar de León Izeppi has worked in the areas of pavement management and transportation engineering for more than 25 years. He is currently a research scientist with the Center for Sustainable & Resilient Infrastructure at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI). He works with the Pavement Surface Properties Consortium, the National Sustainable Pavements Consortium, and other multidisciplinary research projects that address end-result and performance-oriented specifications. He has performed extensive data collection for pavement structural and functional performance, pavement life-cycle cost analyses, pavement design and geometric design. He is also engaged in coordinating the field support for the site evaluation of the Virginia Quiet Pavement Implementation Program for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and responding to the requests of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Friction Loan Program. He has been a member of the Management of Quality Assurance (AFH20) TRB Committee since 2009 and has served on the ASTM E-17 Committee on Vehicle Pavement Systems since 2012.
