Jon Antin, Ph.D., CHFP is a Certified Human Factors Professional. He leads the Vulnerable Road User Safety & Mobility Group at VTTI. Over the past 19 years, Dr. Antin has established a program of research emphasizing the human factors of vulnerable road users, especially older adult driver safety and mobility. He has been responsible for securing and/or successfully managing research funding totaling more than $50M.
Dr. Antin earned his B.S. in Psychology at L.S.U., then performed his graduate work in human factors at the Vehicle Analysis and Simulation Laboratory in the Industrial Engineering and Operations Research Department at Virginia Tech. Prior to joining VTTI, Dr. Antin performed human factors research as a faculty member of the Industrial Engineering Department at N.C. State University, at NASA Johnson Space Center, and at the Naval Air Test Center. Additionally, he served for five years as Principal Technical Staff Member and Technical Lead of the Usability Engineering Center of Excellence in the Integrated Workforce Solutions Organization at AT&T. Dr. Antin has authored or coauthored more than 100 publications and presentations including refereed journal articles, conference papers and/or panel sessions and presentations, technical reports, and book chapters. He is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society and its special interest group focused on surface transportation, a faculty affiliate of the Center for Gerontology at Virginia Tech, and a member of the Equity Council for the Regional UTC at North Carolina A&T State University: Center for Regional and Rural Connected Communities (CR²C²).
