Suren Thapa, M.S., is a research associate in the Division of Data and Analytics, where he works on various problems related to computer vision and machine learning. His works have spanned multiple fields, including driver behavior, bioinformatics, and information retrieval. He has contributed to multiple projects funded by prominent agencies such as NHTSA, FHWA, NSF, FMCSA, and NCHRP. Mr. Thapa has published over 50 publications in various reputed journals, conferences, and workshops. He has also authored several book chapters and technical reports. His recent focus has been on exploring the capabilities of large vision language models (LVLMs) in transportation safety research. Additionally, Mr. Thapa is actively involved in academic service, serving as a reviewer for several esteemed journals and conferences, and participating in various technical program committees.
