VTTI is known as a world leader in naturalistic driving studies. These studies generate massive amounts of data that require an extensive computational infrastructure to support storage and analysis. The engine behind this is VTTI’s Scientific Data Warehouse, which relies on a massively parallel processing (MPP) database, scale-out network-attached storage (NAS), and high-performance computing (HPC) clusters.
The MPP database consists of multiple servers—accounting for over 1.5 petabytes of storage— that provide fast access to vehicle and driving data. Similarly, the scale-out NAS system is efficient at supplying large file systems that can scale to meet demand. VTTI’s NAS system offers over 5 petabytes of storage. The HPC infrastructure provides computing and graphics processing unit (GPU) resources as well as high-performance connectivity to the storage systems, which facilitates data analysis on large-scale datasets such as naturalistic driving studies.
